when i asked my father what he did in the war he said, 'I wanted to be in the RAF but my legs were too short to reach the pedals.' Only just now I realise I have no idea what he did in the war.
Yes I remember you sharing that story - quite something to be kicked out by the mafia! I know Dad found some evidence of Gatehouses moving to the US but I don't think he ever established a clear connection to our family.
Poor Granny G , I look forward to finding out more about that. It is funny how these stories travel down through History ! I think I may have mentioned before ? That my great grandfather Giuseppe , after his wife died left his kids in a care home in the UK and went to live in the State to make his fortune and then return for the kids (which he did do) but apparently he didn’t make his fortune but instead upset the Mafia who kicked him out of the USA !!! We all strongly believe it 😂😂 well done for getting your story out there.
