Thanks Francis. And I know - I was surprised too. But apparently - if I got this right - the fight or flight response can actually reduce blood flow to the inner ear and cause long-term damage if it's extreme and I guess long enough.
I'm sure there's plenty more to add from her school records too. Looking forward to visiting my Mum and my Aunt in the UK next week to get hold of some more pictures and research that has been done thus far.

Thanks Francis. I think that 120 years ago many conditions with an unknown cause were put down to fright or 'nervous shock' of some kind.
